Famous movie “Avatar” employed Autodesk 3ds Max, the design visualization software to create its extraordinary performance of virtual and real-life character action. However, reality is not essential for every pieces of work, for example, some Japanese animations or games. After modelling and motion animation, the 3D models will be applied with suitable material and rendering setting to add dark black boarder and obvious contrast and strong color difference on the images to make them looks like the original comic (manga). Such technique is called “Toon-Shading”.
3ds Max is such a powerful tool in design visualization, when a 3D animators can master the four major skills of modelling, lighting, material and animation, they are not limited to emulate reality, but fiction. That is the reason why the software is used in so many movies, animation and game production.
